Megaphone Militia

I have strong urges to complete something that was never complete. For whatever reason, I never had the chance to finalize and launch Megaphone Militia’s first debut album. Through the toils, I’ve found that… while many songs have gathered dust and many more have been half written, there are still a handful that are good and purposeful to encourage.

I still have my notebook that I kept during my stay in the UK where I wrote down verses that were powerful to me, lyrics that seemed to be endless, and previous songs that evolved and changed. Sometimes these songs take months to write, like the songs I wrote for EFC Music Ministry, and sometimes they come in a minute and I cannot catch up with my brain. Catching up to my brain…that is rare!

Here is a song that I revised in the UK and one of those songs that just came to me.

I Need You Lord
I need you Lord
more than anything
more than anything
I need You

I give you all of me
all my hopes and dreams
so you can reign in me
so you can reign in me

To walk beside my King
trusting in everything
that you’ve called me to
Lord, I’ll trust in You

Same Glasses

I was watching Monday Night Football tonight and started channel surfing during halftime. For some reason, I stopped on the hit show Judge Judy. If you’ve ever watched Judge Judy, you might realize a couple things: one, she’s like a mean old white witch lady who has all authority in her courtroom, and two, there’s that one black guy who stands by her to protect her in case someone get’s ticked at her one day and does something crazy.

Also, if you watch the show, she occasionally turns to her black bodyguard and talks to him, jokes with him and yeah…Today, when she was talking to him, I realized something about him… he has the same glasses as I do! Dolce & Gabbana. What a stud. No wonder he looks so good. I mean.. no wonder his glasses look so good…

Remembering Spain…

I really miss traveling through Europe. It was one of the most exciting things I’ve ever done in my life. Spain will forever hold a special place in my heart as the first place I ever touched down to in the mainland continent of Europe. My first hostel stay, the awesome food, the first backpacking experience, the first time I was completely lost and confused, the first time I really felt homesick. But I really enjoyed the experience nonetheless.

Seeing La Sagrada Familia and walking through the night markets in Las Ramblas in Barcelona

Taking a night train to Granada to enjoy some tapas with the locals and to visit one of the most beautiful places in Europe: La Alhambra

Going to Sevilla

And visiting the fairytale land of Segovia…and watching the sunset on top of the castle

I am definitely going back to Spain one day and spending a lot more time enjoying their culture and sights. Three weeks just isn’t enough time to soak it all in.

Craigslist Poem

I am trying to sell my electric guitar on Craiglist and I have been getting some really odd responses. Some people claim to be touring the States and want me to sell the guitar to them as a backup, some people claim to be short on cash and offer me about 2/5 of my listed price (which is already cheap!), and then some people write poems… WHAT? YES, POEMS.

Hey there man with paul,
I know this is no biggie…did it come with gold knobs ?
Looks unusual. The guitar looks great. Is that the way gibson
sold it ? WHITE mounting rings etc. I do not see the “Dings”
you mention…must be hardly there. I hate to be a bother,
but did you get any more pictures when you shot these ?

I know the price is nice…is there any room to come down ?

I am screaming at myself…I know how stupid this can be !

I have been thru this torture chamber, too many times.

I truly am interested…I am waying this against an epi
purchase.
Thanks for your time, Tom

This is awesome. I will reply in poetic form as well.

Healing Power

Tonight I went to a night class that was given by a nearby church and the topic was on healing. I thought it was a class for newcomers about what the church was about and the vision of the church and how to plug yourself into this church. Apparently, I was wrong. But it was a good thing.

As the night went on, I learned a lot of things about the healing power of God and the speaker presented things and made us think in ways that were ‘out of the box’. In the end, he went around and prayed for and healed everybody in the room. I didn’t say anything to anybody, but I had a little surfing accident last weekend and my calf was in pain. If I so much as stood on my tip toes or tried to point my toes up, it would be extremely painful…but I knew the healing power of God was there tonight. All I remember leading up to the moment was me smiling because I had confidence that my pain would not be there after tonight and I was thinking how happy I was going to be in the morning without pain in my leg as I got up for work. I sang in my head the verses to the song:

I love you Lord, and I lift my voice to worship You, O my soul rejoice!

at that instant I felt him touch my forehead and I was on the ground. I wasn’t unconscious but I was peaceful and my body felt tingly.. but maybe that was because I was cold. Anyway, when I stood up… I walked back to my place and I stood up on my toes and no pain! I then raised my toes up and no pain there either! Then i started shaking my ankles and calf and trying to position my ankle in weird positions to flex my calve muscle and I did not feel any pain. I would say I was extremely amazed but that would be slightly inaccurate. I was more amazed at God’s healing power more so than the fact that I got healed.

** Now, I think this must be made of note because I think it is important for you reading and going, “wow, OMG! Miracle! Miracle!” My soreness has not completely gone away as I can feel that it is still tight but my pain is completely gone. It was slightly painful for me to walk because every time I pushed off the ground with my left leg, my calf muscle would contract which shot pain up my leg. That don’t feel anything close to that anymore. I do feel that it is tender and if I massage it, it still is sore. I think God was just taking the pain away that it wouldn’t distract me from everyday tasks and cause me to limp as I walked around work.

God is THE DUDE when it comes to stuff like this. =)

Chargers Game

I went to the Q for the opening game against the Carolina Panthers. Although we lost, I must admit that I had a great time watching the game in the midst of thousands of drunk people. It didn’t matter that I sat in the nosebleeds because I have a great stalker camera in my Canon S3 IS. Here are the pictures from today:

Overall, the day was amazing. I also have a video of the last play of the game with 2 seconds left where Delhomme throws the game winning TD to Dante Rosario… but I won’t post that.
