Oklahoma City…
I can’t believe it. Seattle lost their basketball team a couple weeks ago to Oklahoma City! Now the big debate has surfaced about what color schemes should be selected for their jerseys and what nickname they should be.
Oklahoma City Sonics? Naw.. that doesn’t flow off of the tongue and I agree that they should change the name if they’re going to start fresh. Here are a few names I heard of that I think are the best choices:
Oklahoma City Bandits. It’s got a nice ring and brings up the imagery of the Wild West. Simple. Easy. Not bad.
Oklahoma City Hillbillies. This is not bad. I’ve actually never been to Oklahoma but I’m just guessing there are a lot of hillbillies out there. Yes, I stereotyped pretty harshly and no, I don’t care.
Oklahoma City Coconuts. Yea, I’m an outside-of-the-box thinking kind of guy. Just think, it would be a psychological advantage when they play in games. This tactic would totally confuse opponents making them think, why are they called the Coconuts when they’re in OKC?. This would also confuse the home crowd as well.
Oklahoma City Slickers. Think about it. It would open up a huge market with people who live in the city and the old movie and… okay actually now that I’m typing it, it sounds kind of stupid. It sounded good though, the city slickers part.
Oklahoma City Bombers. Okay this is just wrong but it’s funny as heck. Dude, it even rolls off the tongue! For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about… click here.
